I am a mostly self-trained artist working in ink, watercolor, colored pencil, and illustrator markers. I have studied with local artists Mike Henderson (graphite), Andrea Allen (Chinese brush painting in sumi ink), and Kathleen Alexander (watercolor), and I have continued my art education through the New York Botanical Garden’s courses in Botanical Illustration.

I take my inspiration from living on The Sea Ranch, with its mesmerizing and constantly changing landscapes, native plants, birds, and other wildlife. My journey with drawing and painting began in earnest when I was introduced to nature journaling. I love how practicing the visual arts has changed the way I see the world. I now see color, pattern, light, and shadow rather than just “tree.”

In 2024, wanting to bridge my skills in graphic layout, writing, and art, I launched Mark Makers’ Quarterly (MMQ), a print journal of rural California art and artists.

Come visit me at my and David Yager's home and studio on The Sea Ranch. I’d like to meet you.
