Karin Hartog
Water Color and Mixed Media
I'm a watercolor painter. I like vibrant colors in my paintings. I mount most of my paintings on wood panels.

Karin Hartog's connection to nature began during her childhood in Chile. After moving to the United States and pursuing a science career, she started watercolor painting ten years ago, studying with Pablo Villicana-Lara.
Based part time in Piedmont, CA, and part time in Gualala she finds inspiration in the Northern California coast and her own garden. Her work has been shown in local exhibitions and galleries.
Hartog's paintings are in an impressionistic style, focusing on light and color. She likes to explore the way water and pigment move in this medium by using wet-on-wet techniques to create soft, atmospheric effects.
Her artistic influences include John Singer Sargent, Mary Cassatt, Pablo Villicana-Lara, and Stephen Berry.
Through her art, she aims to convey peace, serenity, and a connection to nature.
