Watercolor, oil,
and giclee prints

I paint vibrant realistic watercolors in my studio. I also paint plein air oils of coastal landscapes, and make giclee prints of my watercolors. I love painting tropical flowers, grapes on the vine, and a newer series of abalone shells and pelicans influenced by the California coast.

I am an artist specializing in watercolor and oil painting, as well as my own giclée printing.

Currently, I’m working on a watercolor series featuring abalone shells, each with its own story. Though abalone diving is no longer permitted along our beautiful coast, the red abalone mollusk remains an iconic part of our coastal environment. Many residents and visitors of the Sonoma and Mendocino Coasts were initially drawn here by abalone diving, with the elusive "Ten Inch Ab" as a prized goal. Unique shells became cherished trophies for divers, and their iridescent nacre presents an exciting challenge to capture in paint. Exploring the contrast between light and shadow is a constant theme in my work, making abalone shells a perfect subject.

Inspired by a recent trip to Laguna Beach, I have also begun a new watercolor series of pelicans in flight. Watching them soar just outside my window sparked the idea, and now, back home, I spend time on the ocean bluffs with my camera at the ready, capturing reference images of these elegant birds.

In addition to my watercolors, I paint small oil landscapes of the local scenery. I love painting outdoors, embracing the unpredictable nature of plein air work and the exhilarating challenge of completing a piece before the light shifts.

I am a Signature Member of the National Watercolor Society and an Artist Member of the California Art Club. My work is represented by Village Galleries Maui and Lansing Street Gallery in Mendocino.

I also teach watercolor painting at all levels, offering private, group, and online lessons.
