Pam Powell
Digital Photography
My photography is largely shot outdoors and falls into the broad categories of flora, fauna, the "built world" (such as birdhouses, cairns, buildings, and fences), and landscapes. Typically, I use a short depth of field to capture the essence of my subjects.

Photography is much more than a combination of aperture size and shutter speed, or even what an object looks like. To me, photography is a way to project the simplicity and emotion of everyday life.
Simplicity lets us see what is important in an image. Because I value photographic simplicity, I frequently shoot images with a short depth of field.
Photography is also about how an image makes us feel. For example, a human or animal portrait can evoke a strong emotional response. So, too, can an image of a flower, a landscape, a bunch of grapes, or even rusted farm equipment.
My images have been exhibited at the Coast Highway Artists’ Collective in Point Arena and the Discovery Gallery, the Dolphin Gallery and Gualala Arts Center in Gualala, and WhiteCap Coffee and Tea in Anchor Bay. In 2024, my photography was recognized in four categories of the International Color Awards Competition –and my fingers are crossed for 2025.
