Colors
“In the palette of life, each color adds its own hue to the masterpiece.”

I am drawn to such colors.
Ultramarine Blue, which translates to “beyond the sea” and symbolizes holiness and humility.
Ochre, an earthy pigment derived from iron-rich rocks, representing fertility, life, and growth.
Sienna in its natural state is yellowish brown and is called raw sienna. When heated, it becomes a reddish brown, to become burnt sienna, one of the first pigments to be used by humans, found in many cave paintings.
Umber, a natural earth pigment is a brownish color that can vary among shades of yellow, red, and green. Some suggest that it derives from the Latin word umbra, which means "shadow."
The richness of blue water, the warmth of sunlight, the scent of earthen soils, the texture of rocks, the complexity of our anatomy and the intimacy of shadows emboldens my oil canvases and photographs.
“Every artist dips his brush in his own soul and paints his own nature into his pictures.”
- H. Beecher
I welcome you to our spacious, Sea Ranch meadow home with 20-foot ceilings and loft studio, WhaleSong. Sorry, but my studio is not wheelchair accessible. With another artist, Barbara Poole, showing in the neighborhood, come by to see the variety and the richness that the North Coast Artists Guild has to offer.
