Organic, Modern, Sculptural
“Art is an abstraction, as you dream among nature, extrapolate from it.”
– Paul Gauguin
Based in Sea Ranch, California, I create hand-formed porcelain and stoneware ceramics from my home studio. With a background in art studies and experience in merchandising and product design, I bring together a sensitivity to form and function with a deep connection to the natural world and a keen interest in the materiality of clay. There is something truly magical about being immersed in nature, and I feel fortunate to draw inspiration from the textures, patterns, and forms that surround me—allowing them to inform and shape my creative process.
Each piece I make is a quiet exploration, emphasizing organic forms, tactile surfaces, and the interplay of contrast. I embrace the imperfections found in both the natural world and the work itself, often leaving surfaces unglazed to highlight the raw beauty of the material.
The process of shaping, smoothing, and carving evokes for me the slow, powerful forces of erosion and weathering—echoing nature’s rhythms. Through this dialogue with clay, I hope to convey a sense of transformation and timelessness, and to remind the viewer of the fleeting, yet enduring beauty of the world around us.
I am also preparing for a group show titled “Natural Wonder,” which will take place in October at Gualala Arts.
